Adam Kramer began his career as a music educator in Brownsville, TX before relocating to Fort Worth, TX, in 2009. Along with directing the Southwest High School Jazz Ensemble, Mr. Kramer is an assistant band director at Wedgwood Middle School and Wedgwood 6th Grade Center.
Ensembles under his direction always earn high praise and are noted for their style and musicianship at contests throughout the state. Mr. Kramer believes that students develop a lifelong passion for jazz by interacting with professional musicians in master classes and on stage. To that end, in 2013, Southwest High School began a guest artist program and has performed with Quamon Fowler, Andre Hayward, Pete Clagett, Fredrick Sanders, Tatiana Mayfield and the UT-Arlington Jazz Faculty. In addition, Southwest has hosted numerous clinicians, including Mike Williams, Ronald Carter, Marcos Varela, Rick Stitzel, Tom Burchill, and Tommy Poole.
Mr. Kramer is a 1996 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, where he studied trombone with Dr. Tom Streeter. He is a native of Manchester, Connecticut, and is a product of strong band programs directed by Tony Susi, James Hilbie and Keith Berry. Mr. Kramer performs regularly in big bands throughout the Metroplex, and is one of the directors of the Metro Praise Youth Orchestra. His professional affiliations include the Jazz Education Network, Texas Music Educators Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Mr. Kramer resides in Mansfield, TX with his wife and their two children.
