Miles has been a valued part of this organization since its inception. He joined the orchestra in 2011 as a student musician just out of L.D. Bell High School.
He didn’t enroll to be a mentor, but his leadership skills were quickly noticed.
When Miles began his studies at Tarrant County College, we asked him to serve as a college intern. An Eagle Scout, he proved himself time and again, both as a player and as a mentor to younger players.
Miles went on to UTA where he continued to grow as a jazz musician. He stayed on as our senior intern for several years. By 2017, Miles was not only the leading trumpet section, but was mentoring players throughout the band, and proving himself as a skilled composer and technical guru.
The part-time position of assistant director and technical director was created in 2019 and we could not be more pleased with how Miles has fulfilled those roles!
He also teaches privately, and gigs professionally in popular wedding bands, as well as for commerical shows.
